Hi All -
We've been crazily busy so far this spring. Our apologies for not posting recently....The last Open House went very, very well. Again, thanks to all the families who had stopped in and continue stay in touch and communicate with us.
The local real estate market appears healthy - which is good news. We're fortunate that the interest on our end has been high. Some really, really nice families and couples have continued to express interest.
We appreciate everyone's patience with our approach of going the Open House route as opposed to having scheduled showings. Scheduled showings are very time consuming and can be a bit of hit & miss. The last property we sold (thru a broker) had instances where the prospective buyers never showed up. We also had instances where the brokers were calling with 6 to 8 hours notice. That doesn't fit our lifestyle....Plus, we really want to give people the chance to leisurely roam around and ask questions. In fact, in each of the open houses we've had, there have been couples & families that have stayed for 90+ minutes and even played on the swingsets. That's exactly what we wanted to see happen and is cool with us.
Next Open Houses will be Sunday June 8th from 12pm to 4pm followed by the following Saturday June 14th from 12pm to 4pm.
Perennials are coming up wonderfully. Peonies are starting to bloom and our kids are excited that we're into lawn mower season. The vegetable garden is shaping up as we've got the tomatoes, peppers, corn, squash, beans and flowers in. Fruit trees are looking good and the blueberry bushes are in full flower.
Here are directions:
* Route 89 to Exit 10
* Head towards Stowe (if heading on 89 South, go left - from 89 North, go right)
* Take your 1st left, heading up Blush Hill by the Best Western
* Up about a mile, the Blush Hill Country Club (golf course) will be on left
* Go to the "end" of the golf course and take 1st left - paved road - Lonesome Trail
* Up about 2/10 mile you'll see a big yellow house straight ahead on right - look thru the trees and we are the 1st big white house behind & to right of yellow house
* Go to the top of the hill
* Just over the top of the hill will be a driveway with a gray granite post holding 2 heavy duty black mailboxes (#414 and #420)
* Take a right onto the driveway
* We are the 1st house you come too, about 300 yards down the drive
* If you can, please call ahead to let us know you're coming (802-233-2211)
* We look forward to seeing you!

We'll do another Open House later this month - the date is just not finalized yet. We'll be sure to post that soon.
We look forward to seeing you!

Spring Is Here - Thanks for Coming to the Open House
Wow - the streak of unbelievable weather carried thru until today. Unexpectedly, today (April 27th) was a beautiful day. It figures the "worst" weather day was yesterday - the day of the Open House. Still, it wasn't bad - just cool with a few clouds.
Many of the daffodils, hyacinths and tulips are starting to pop thru and bloom. The Star Magnolia in the front yard is about 20% in bloom with some wonderful pink flowers. Lawn is slowly starting to bounce back and come alive - but I'm sure it'll just be another week or so before we're mowing. Many of the peonies and other perennials are coming alive too.
Thank you to all for either an expressing an interest or for attending the Open House. It was steady most of the day and we finished with a flurry as we had a number of interested people right at the end of the day....Nice to see the market is healthy....Most importantly, we appreciated the time spent with each of the families as we heard their stories of what they've been seeking, how long they've been looking and what they liked about our house. We had a number of very in-depth conversations with people and we had a chance to (hopefully, not too enthusiastically) describe why we designed what we designed and built what we built. We appreciate the feedback and kind words.
Simply, we love this house and thank you all for providing us the opportunity to describe its many special qualities.
Thanks and see you soon!

Open House - And Spring is Finally Here (Although, it could be summer)
Well, Spring has finally come after a relentless Winter. Winter was long - epic skiing but it never got really, really cold. It just stayed Winter until early April.
However, like a light switch, it's been unbelievable weather for the last 2 1/2 weeks. Mostly sunny days with temps in the high 70's and low 80's....
The gardens are really shaping up. Daffodils, hyacinths and tulips are all popping thru and in bloom....Daylilys, peonies, roses and many others have really sprouted too. Grass is finally greening up and we'll likely be mowing by next week.
Also - see the updated floor plans in the post below
Open House - Saturday April 26th - 12pm-4pm

Taxes...It's good to be in Waterbury (taxes are much lower than Stowe or Burlington)
Hi -
We received a phone call asking how much the taxes were....Excellent question.
As mentioned, the home was built in late 2005. Taxes for 2007 were $8,980....By comparison to Burlington or Stowe, those are relatively low.
It's rather likely that if this home were located in Stowe or Burlington, the annual taxes would likely be another 40% higher - or above $12,000 or $13,000.
Thanks!

More Photos....With more to come

Hi -
Hope everyone had a great holiday....Spring is in the air...Still, lots of snow despite the fact that it's Easter.
Here are a few more photos - dining room, pantry and our lower level basement....My apologies as we don't have a wide-angle lens capable of showing the full size of a room. As a result, I'm not convinced the pictures do justice....(NOTE - PHOTOS ARE AT BOTTOM OF PAGE)....
Oh well.....We'll be posting more photos of the bedrooms, office and mudroom.
Can't wait until we can post some photos of all of the flowers (1000's of daffodils, tulips etc.)!
